The Dominator Characteristics

This lesson is a part of an audio course Self Discovery by Teresa Cole

The Dominator has several distinctive characteristics. You should be able to identify a Red personality by their traits. However, if you are a Red Personality, you will be able to identify with these characteristics because you're:

  • Courageous: You pursue things with power and purpose. When you speak people listen. They know that you mean what you say and that you will accomplish what you set out to do. You are fearless and people look up to you because of your strength and wisdom.

  • Focused: You will not be distracted by the noise of the world. In fact, you often shut off your phone, social media, and the television so that you can make progress toward some noteworthy goal. Even when the odds are stacked against you, you'll still move forward and you aren't easily swayed by circumstances. If you've ever watched an animal survival show, you've probably seen how lions hunt. Their focus is so intense, and their eyes are set on the prize. The bugs, the weather, and the other things happening around them do not prevent their drive to achieve a successful hunt. That instinct parallels you and your drive to accomplish a worthy goal.

  • Action Taker: You're not the kind of person who will sit around talking about what you're planning to do next. You're the kind of person who is out there doing it, now. You're not fixated on all the bad news and economic predictions, you're manifesting what you want to happen. In fact, you're probably taking notes right now, and finding ways to use the information in this course to further your cause or achieve some goal.

  • Communicator: You can communicate plans and strategies focusing on key points.

  • Decisive: You can make decisions fast. You don't take a long time to order at a restaurant. Your order is done while everyone else is still looking at the menu. You make quick decisions in romantic relationships. You will spend a little time with the person and you've made a decision about them. They are on borrowed time making their decision too because you will not have your time wasted. You will run a business idea without dreading the risks. You just need things to keep moving forward. You make quick forward-moving decisions.

  • Cut-throat: When you deliver a message, it's usually without a chaser. You are a straight-shooter, and you rarely arrange your words to provide any cushion for hurt feelings. You feel as though people should be able to handle the truth and you shouldn't have to censor things to baby them. Yet, it's difficult for you to accept that same type of communication. You would consider it rude if someone communicated with you that way. You would also let that person know that they were rude in their communication with you and it wasn't appreciated.

  • Hard-working: You're willing to burn the midnight oil and focus on your goals. You will abandon all unnecessary activities to get a vision launched. You're keen on quality and excellence. You are one of those rare people who can tune out everything except for the one thing that you need to get done.

  • High-Energy: Your energy isn't the hyper type but rather the focused type. You have a lot of energy to support a strong work ethic. You can focus on a project and until it is complete. You have an inner flame that burns with passion towards a worthy goal.

  • Opinionated: You will voice your opinion no matter the cost. You will go left when everyone else is going right. You are a high roller-you bet high and rarely worry about any losses because you believe that there are none. You understand that failure is a lesson and your opinion conveys that you shouldn't stop until you win.

It's a great mindset to have, but it's also wise for you to have a team around you since you rarely pay attention to the details, and you don't really calculate risks. A helpful and analytical personality would make great team members because they can help reduce the overall losses and increase gains. As a Dominator, you have tunnel vision, and it provides you the ability to focus and get things done. Yet, it can drive you to put all of your chips into one basket and avoid sound advice towards more efficient ways to get things done. As a dominator, you're a captain that is willing to crash and burn with the ship. You want to charge full-speed forward even if there's an iceberg ahead. A great team can ensure that you can see the crash coming and help you to make important shifts in your focus to avoid it.

In the next lesson, we will learn about the Dominator key business strengths.
