Identifying Your Top 3 Core Values

Welcome to Lesson 3 of how to create and live an authentic life on your terms.

I've spent the last 10 years of my life immersed in Personal Development and surrounding myself with highly successful people through my masterminds, and I have spent a lot of time connecting with and researching high-performing athletes, business people and entrepreneurs, and one thing they all have in common is that they all know, and live by their top three core values.

If we were sitting at a coffee shop right now enjoying a cappuccino, and I was to ask you what your top three core values were, could you tell me?

If your answer is no, then the good news is that moving forward your life can now be lived on purpose doing only the things that align with your core values and limiting the time you spend on things that do not align with what's most important to you. So simply put, our core values are the things that are of utmost important to you in your life right now.

I will share mine with you to give you an example. My top 3 core values right now are quality time with my family, entrepreneurship as I run several small businesses with my fiance, and time freedom. I want to make sure that I can do what I want, when I want, on my terms without being told what to do and when to do it. I protect my time, and allocate as much of my attention, focus and energy on my 3 core values and eliminate most other things from my life, as that is how achievers achieve. Pure focus and clarity.

Having said that, 2 years ago, my core values were completely different because my priorities were different back then. So, what I want you to understand is that your core values change over the course of your life because we are dynamic human beings and our lifestyles and priorities shift and change over time.

So, ask yourself what are my absolute top three priorities in my life as of right now. Get Crystal Clear on your 3 core values. Then, in order to align your lifestyle with your core values, it's imperative that you make choices that align with your core values as often as possible.

Now, of course, we all have to do things we don't always want to do, and we have obligations that we can't always walk away from or say no to, but 90% of your life and your lifestyle choices should be in alignment with your core values if you truly want to live an authentic life on your terms.

Remember we only get one shot at life and so every day that you are living out of alignment and living on autopilot not making intentional choices to elevate your life to the next level is a day wasted.

So, once you're clear on what your top three core values are, you need to ask yourself this question before you make any decision big or small, will this choice help my core values or hurt my core values?

If it's going to help your core values and is in alignment with your goals, then go for it, but if it's going to hurt your core values which means you'll be out of alignment with what's most important to you, then you need to say no or not now, to that request or that invitation, or task.

If you are starting to feel a little uncomfortable with these concepts and strategies, then you're exactly where you're supposed to be. Creating and living an authentic life on your terms requires you to dig deep and learn exactly who you are, and learn exactly who you are not, so that you can make the right choices for you and for your family and for your lifestyle.

It will require being a little selfish at times, but when you know who you are and you know what's important to you, living in an authentic, fulfilling life will allow you to be in a peak state where you can serve everyone and everything in your life at your best. To me, there's nothing selfish about that.
